Money, money, money!

24 Apr

Today, the designs for the new Swedish money were revealed. Cinephiles might recognize the faces that adorn two of the bills.

Yeah, that’s right: we’re getting money with Greta Garbo and Ingmar Bergman on it! This is a real thing that’s happening! Granted, it’s still off in the future; I believe the new money won’t start being printed until 2015 or so. Still, this is pretty cool, no? I’m looking forward to walking around with these in my wallet.

Glorious. Just simply glorious. Forget America’s “In God We Trust,” give me Bergman as currency.

Yes! It’s time for us to move beyond the “In God We Trust” thing (this is just my opinion, not meant to offend any religious people out there).

I’m all for freedom of religion. I just never understood why God should have anything to do with money.

Emil, if we were on Facebook, I’d “Like” that comment.

Well, okay, granted, I’m not entirely sure what Bergman has to do with money either: But at least he’s Swedish, and it’s Swedish money. I don’t think God is American. I could be wrong.

That’s extremely cool. I think we should get Guy Ritchie on the pound!

I’d like Mike Leigh money. He looks like such a friendly guy.

Scorsese on our currency would be pretty sweet.

Question is if we’ll even use cash at the point those get printed. It’s all about cards now aday, isn’t it?

Maybe. Maybe not. The store I work in still doesn’t take cards. :)

Hmm, I do think the Garbo one looks very nice, but Bergman, not so much. Still, it’s a nice thing, although, where’s the Euro !? ;)

I personally prefer the Bergman one. I like the color. And yes, I wouldn’t mind the Euro myself either…

Wow, that is amazing. Far better than boring royalty or politicians.

I know, right? Other countries should follow this example. I mean, how great would it be if Denmark got Lars Von Trier money, for instance?
